THE FIREBALL MONKEYS
Rock’n’rollabillyrhythmswing
dirty grooves, wild spirit.
NEW ALBUM RELEASE
Hey Folks
Rock´n´Rollabillyrhythmswing
The Fireball Monkeys is a band project by two musicians originally known from the metal scene.
Markus Grosskopf, bassist and founding member of the German metal band Helloween, on double bass
Jan S Eckert, former bassist of Masterplan, Iron Savior and several other bands on guitar and lead vocals.
All supported by Dani Loeble from Helloween on the drums giving it a hell of a unique strong and tight backbeat steaming and shuffling like a „locomotive“.
Why would two bass players from the metal scene suddenly decide to step into a completely different genre and record an album?
Simply put, because we can and we love it.
We both love the original, the romantic, raw style of rock ’n‘ roll as it was played in the fifties and sixties by artists like Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and all those other good old rock ’n‘ rollers.
And the influence of bands like the Stray Cats is undeniable, of course.
A wild mix of all these influences.
That’s The Fireball Monkeys. A huge amount of rock ’n‘ roll, a touch of rockabilly, a dash of rhythm swing, a little bit of doo-wop—all cooked up together, and you get The Fireball Monkeys.
That’s why we simply call it
„Rock’n’Rollabillyrhythmswing“ We’re using that term upfront because the media and listeners tend to pigeonhole and categorize it anyway.
So how did it all come about?
Good question.
Jan had the idea to record one or two songs in this style and release the songs online while he sings and plays guitar. Meanwhile, Markus had fulfilled his dream of learning the double bass, and it felt like the right time for this project and it came together naturally and worked out great.
And then Markus had the idea to record a whole album filled with our own songs in this style. And here is the first CD from The Fireball Monkeys, called A Rock ’n‘ Roll Sensation.
Jan and Markus have known and respected each other since the early eighties, and their paths have crossed many times. Finally, with The Fireball Monkeys, what belongs together has come together. So give it a listen and let yourself be transported into the fantastic world of good old rock ’n‘ roll.
Cheers from The Fireball Monkeys!
